Dare to fall

She

Took one step

And then another,

Looking at each humble crack.

Face your fears,

Urged the silver lining.

She knew.

There was no going back.

Just put one foot

In front of the other,

Beckoned the window above

The stairs knew well,

They had climbed before.

Hold on tight

They railed,

You will not fall.

You won’t go far,

Scowled the old brick wall,

There’s nothing here at all.

But she knew that was a lie.

Of course she was going to fly!

She hung her head,

The paint dripped red,

She stretched her wings,

And dared

to fall.

  3. I’m glad you saw the essence in this, Claudia. I struggled and finally posted this even though it doesn’t flow well. Sometimes this is what it takes to move on to the next idea.
